Onesize, MassiveMusic, and Kaaps team up to support charity summit.
Three creative agencies collaborate on promo video to help raise awareness for Wilco Dekker’s Doctors Without Borders Everest expedition.
AMSTERDAM 28 March 2019 – In a show of support towards Doctors Without Borders, and their ambassador Wilco Dekker in particular, three major players in the Dutch design, video production and music scene are collaborating on the climber’s fundraising videos. By broadcasting the promotional videos, the parties involved hope to create awareness and raise funds for the charity, while inspiring others to do the same.
In a series of intense, almost unsettling teasers, the viewer is transported into the harsh, yet immensely-rewarding reality set to be faced by Dekker. Lead Art Direction and overall design are in the hands of Amsterdam-based agency Onesize – known among others for its digitally-enhanced and design-driven productions for FX Networks, among others. Video production is by Rotterdam-based Kaaps, no strangers to capturing real-life stories of sportsmanship at the highest level. To top it off, the journey’s soundtrack is provided by international creative music agency MassiveMusic.
Experienced mountaineer Wilco Dekker – who has climbed 5 of the world’s 7 summits – refers to his expedition as Borders to the Top (Grenzen aan de Top). His mission is to raise at least € 1, - for every metre he climbs (8.848 make up Everest), but he also begs the question: “Are there limits to your personal peak?” As for his choice of charity, Doctors Without Borders was the logical choice for Dekker as he spent time working for the organisation.
“Wilco’s personal passion and drive are what inspired us to team up with our colleagues at Kaaps and MassiveMusic, and create these teaser videos,” explains Pepijn Padberg, Executive Producer at Onesize. Breaking from their usual commissioned work, the project sees Onesize stepping into the role of art director among others, allowing the agency to develop exciting new work together with other creative agencies.

It inspired us so much that we wanted to bring this production to the highest level (pun intended) by collaborating with the best people from our international network. We even recorded a throat singer as we were looking for a true, authentic Himalayan sound.”
Naturally leading the project from initial idea and art direction through to shareable content intended to resonate with a donating audience, Pepijn Padberg states: “We wanted to recreate Wilco’s impending journey climbing the highest mountain in the world. Most importantly, we want to raise money by doing so.”
