When celebrated New York artist ENHANCE designed a new Limited Edition bottle for Stoli’s Elit vodka range, we took the opportunity to create a stunning piece showcasing this work of art.
Concept
We used three elements - shapes, light and human touch - to create artistic interpretations of the unique Elit Limited Edition fragmented pattern. We used the Fire and Ice as a metaphor for the Elit primary colour palette of red and white. As both elements collide and interplay, light reveals itself through cracked, triangular shapes of melting ice, hinting at the shapes of the bottle which we interpreted in both abstract and literal ways. These triangular fractures and abstract shapes eventually build and morph into the shape of the bottle; the final reveal of the piece. To add an extra layer of emotion to the film, we juxtaposed human and animal imagery to the existing shots of neon lights and ice shapes.
Process
This film was born out of a process of R&D, a one-off experimental project that reflected the limited edition nature of the product itself. We created miniature ice sculptures using physical 3D printing, which we then shot in-camera using various lighting and camera techniques such as time-lapse, slow motion, stop motion, etc. In CG, we then added projection mapping sequences of patterns and light to create refractions, with light seeping through the cracks. The aim was to create a surreal and abstract piece, interspersed with quick flashes that featured the Elit brand. Our aim was to achieve a seamless style where no perceptive distinction existed between what was done in CG and live action. Using sound design, we accentuated the onscreen movements of light and shapes. The music made use of a harmonic foundation that gave the project its desired emotional weight.
